What is the end result of the lytic cycle for the host cell?

In the lytic cycle, the end result for the host cell is destruction. This process involves the virus attaching to the host cell, injecting its genetic material, and using the host's cellular machinery to replicate its viral components. As new viral particles are assembled, they accumulate within the host cell. Eventually, these newly formed virions cause the host cell to lyse, or burst, releasing the viral particles into the surrounding environment to infect additional cells.
